Juggling disconnected software steals time and attention from the work that matters. Every year, growers and consultants are drowning in new research and regulations, forced to sift through as much as possible in hopes of finding what applies to their specific situation. Farmers, consultants, and ag businesses we have talked to over the past year of building FarmSmarter asked for a single place that works with them, researches for them, keeps records straight, connects all their field data, accelerates compliance workflows, and ties guidance directly to the most up-to-date information and their specific needs.
FarmSmarter began as a question inside a university research setting in Louisiana. Could a specialized AI model learn the language and logic of agriculture well enough to answer like a seasoned pro, show its work, and still run on a phone in the field? Our team worked in collaboration with the LSU Ag center to see if we could make a reliable virtual expert who knew everything contained in LSU’s annually published Ag Guides, bridging the gap between LSU’s world-class research and getting that information directly to growers in a clear, useful way.
What we built performed so well that we continued developing it to test a bigger theory: if we created a collection of fine-tuned AI experts on everything from all 16,000 EPA product labels, to agronomic research trial results, to weather data, GIS geometry, safety protocols, agricultural regulations, and more, and build a proprietary framework allowing them to work together, could we build an “Agricultural Intelligence Engine” capable of showing its work, retrieving relevant information instantly, and reasoning like a seasoned agronomist?
Early pilots with growers and consultants in Louisiana put FarmSmarter’s early AI “FarmMind” through its paces. They wanted answers they could defend, tied to location, timing, and local regulation. When it FarmSmarter consistently produced field-ready plans, backed them with citations, and even started finding errors in the highest quality published Ag research publications, we knew we had built something with far more potential than a chat tool. We had created the beginning of a working mind for agriculture; one that could accelerate and optimize the work agricultural professionals do every day.
The FarmSmarter Agricultural Intelligence (AI) Engine remains the brain of our product as we widen the aperture around it to make it as useful as possible. We want to give every ag professional an extra FarmMind to assist their work. FarmMind.org comprises the full system that uses the AI Engine to convert everything you track and the best available agricultural information into the next best actions. Now longer will ag professionals have to ask questions like “where did I save this decision form last season? Which field is it tied to? What will it cost? What do I need to record to stay compliant?” Our goal is for FarmMind to become the world’s best operating system for agriculture that blends intelligence, recordkeeping, and economics into a seamless workflow, saving thousands of hours and millions of dollars across the industry.

The FarmSmarter.ai URL continues taking you to the product, while FarmMind.org URL offers an additional door to the same platform. Our principles also remain unchanged: we believe in transparent reasoning, clear citations, and independence from any pay-to-play recommendations.

Dashboards and per-field financials make it easy to track all field specific information including costs, timing, inputs, field notes, projected ROI given current futures pricing, all alongside weather and data. Compliance helpers align what you plan to do with what you are allowed to do and automatically save the proof you’ll need later, with our ESA and GAP analysis specific tools coming out soon.
