FarmSmarter.ai
FarmSmarter.ai was proud to be named to the Silicon Bayou List 2025, spotlighting trailblazing companies and organizations driving the state’s growing technology sector. We joined peers like CodeGig, OfficerApps, Integer Technologies, Obney.ai, Trendsic Corporation, MasteryPrep, Encore CO2, BRBytes, and TraceSecurity—all pushing the boundaries of what technology can do for Louisiana and beyond.
Being recognized alongside Louisiana’s top innovators is both an honor and a sign of what’s happening here in the Boot. At the inaugural Silicon Bayou Gala, LSU’s Division of Computer Science and Engineering brought together entrepreneurs, faculty, alumni, industry leaders, and students for an evening that celebrated the future of Louisiana technology. Between the neon lights, tuxedos, balloons, and even a robot bartender, one message was clear: Louisiana’s innovation ecosystem is thriving, and the FarmSmarter team is helping lead the way.
The initial seed for FarmSmarter (recently rebranded to FarmMind) was planted during LSU’s very first course on Large Language Model (LLM) systems, led by Professor James Ghawaly, who was honored at the Gala with the Rising Faculty award. During that collaboration with the LSU AgCenter, we asked a simple but ambitious question:
What began as an experiment has now grown into a nationally recognized platform saving growers and agricultural consultants time, money, and aviod costly mistakes. Today, our Agriculturally Intelligent (AI) assistant, Farmer AI, helps farmers make better data-driven decisions, increasing profitability and sustainability while simplifying compliance and research.
For too long, the story has been that you had to leave Louisiana to build innovative technology outside of oil and gas. Now, thanks to the work of teams like FarmMind, that narrative is changing. At the Gala, leaders across industries stood shoulder to shoulder, proving that the Bayou is fertile ground not just for rice, crawfish, and sugarcane, but also for world-class innovation.
The FarmMind Team is proud to be part of that story. With roots in LSU and support from programs like Nexus Louisiana, the Stephenson Department of Entrepreneurship & Information Systems, and the LSU AgCenter, we’re building technology here that will impact agriculture across the nation.
The Silicon Bayou Gala wasn’t just about celebrating success—it was also about charting the future. LSU announced new programs, like a proposed Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence, and launched the Future of Technology Fund with a $250,000 gift to fuel student and faculty innovation. These investments are exactly the kind of foundation Louisiana needs to become a national hub for technology and innovation and train students to be able to contribute to innovative teams.
At FarmSmarter, we see ourselves as part of that future. We’re building a platform that can save farmers thousands of hours and millions of dollars, while reducing environmental impact and making compliance easy, from Innovation Park right here in Baton Rouge.
We’re grateful for the recognition, inspired by the community around us, and more committed than ever to helping farmers and consultants work smarter.
Check out what our team is building at FarmSmarter.ai. And if you know someone in the agriculture space we should connect with, reach out, we’d love to hear from you.
