We know it's been a few weeks since our last update, and there's a good reason for that.

The FarmMind team recently competed in the National Farm Bureau Ag Innovation Challenge, and we won! We're incredibly grateful for this recognition and excited about what it means for the future of FarmMind. If you're interested, you can check out the American Farm Bureau's press release or watch our pitch video from the conference on Youtube.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming! We've been hard at work on some major updates to the platform, and have been looking forward to sharing them with you.

As always, if you have questions, feature requests, or just want to chat about anything FarmMind-related, reach out to us at support@farmmind.org.

What's New

[MAJOR UPDATE] Introducing the Data Analyzer

/

Visualization of bug density from field notes

What was once the Data Visualizer has evolved into the Data Analyzer, your central hub for working with all forms of agricultural data about your fields. This powerful upgrade transforms how you interact with and understand your farm's data.

Layer different data sources on top of each other to derive powerful insights. Pull in satellite imagery to monitor field health over time. Import machinery data from your equipment including yield maps, application rates, and sensor readings. Track trends from your field notes over multiple seasons. Split fields by variety to understand which genetics perform best in specific areas. The Data Analyzer brings all your data together in one place, giving you the tools to make truly data-driven decisions with confidence about every acre you farm.

Yield information from JD Ops Center post-harvest

One of the most powerful features of the Data Analyzer is the ability to create sophisticated variable rate application maps that respond to the specific needs of different zones in your fields. Here's what you can do:

/

Creating a custom variable rate seeding map using a pivot irrigation zone and USGS SSURGO soil types.

All prescription maps can be exported in industry-standard formats compatible with John Deere, Case IH, AGCO, and other major equipment brands. Load them directly into your equipment's display and start applying with precision.

We are working on producing tutorials for using this, but in the meantime please feel free to reach out with questions. Either email support@farmmind.org or book 30 minutes with our team where we would be happy to go over it with you live.

[NEW] Full-Service Soil Testing Flow

/

Creating a soil grid before collecting samples

The Data Analyzer is now home to a complete soil testing workflow that guides you through the entire yearly soil testing cycle. Start by creating custom sampling grids tailored to your field layouts and management zones. Track your samples as they go off to the lab, then easily upload and manage the results when they come back.

/

Resulting soil test from grids

The real power comes in the analysis. Use your preferred formula to convert raw soil test results into specific fertilizer product application recommendations. The system accounts for your unique operation, including soil types, irrigation systems, crop rotations, and yield goals. Generate variable rate application maps that can be loaded directly into your equipment.

All your soil test documentation stays organized and easily accessible, making it simple to compare results year over year and track how your fertility program is performing over time.

[IMPROVED] Revamped Documentation Page

/

New docs page with controls on left side bar

/

See your document's information in list view and export multiple as a report

We've redesigned the documentation page for better usability. Many buttons have moved from the top bar to a left sidebar, freeing up space and streamlining navigation. New features include list view, the ability to generate reports from groups of documents, and a new soil test document type to support the updated soil testing flow.

[NEW] Field Leaderboards

/

Graphing the profitability of each field managed

Want to know how a certain variety's yield compares based on planting date across all your fields? Or which fields were most profitable? The new Field Leaderboards on the Dashboards page make it easy to aggregate and compare critical information about your operation at a glance.

[IMPROVED] Enhanced JD Ops Center Import

/

Imported spray application from JD Ops Center

Update your info from JD Ops Center with ease. FarmMind now accepts and converts shapefiles, field boundaries, yield data, and other affiliated metadata from Ops Center for seamless use within FarmMind.

We're still working on a direct OAuth integration (stay tuned), but uploading your Ops Center info is now easier than ever.

[IMPROVED] Usability Improvements & Bug Fixes

We've squashed various bugs and made usability improvements throughout the platform based on your feedback. Thanks to all the FarmMind users who reported bugs! We appreciate your help in making FarmMind better for everyone.

Coming Soon

Here's a sneak peak at what we're working on:

- Split Fields: Being able to create sections within fields that contain different tags (like different varieties).

- Asset Tracking: Track all the information about your assets, both living (cows, chickens, etc.) and non-living (tractors, barns, seed, etc.), just like you currently track info about your fields.

- Action Tags: Want a tag to change automatically when you make a note about a field or perform another action? Action tags will enable these kinds of automations.

- And much more...
