[MAJOR UPDATE] A More Powerful Maps Experience

Split Fields

/

A field split into zones with different variety tags and fertilizer rates

Divide a single field into multiple management zones without creating separate fields. Draw a split line across your field and assign different tags, like variety, to each section. Each zone maintains its own acreage calculation and metadata, and zones carry through to field notes, recommendations, and the Data Analyzer.

You can also add fertilizer costs to variable rate fertilizer maps for each zone, making it easy to compare input costs across different areas of the same field and optimize your fertility spending.

Field Calculations & Measurements

/

Real-time area and distance measurements while drawing and editing field boundaries

Now see real-time acreage and distance measurements as you draw or edit field boundaries. A dedicated Measurement Tool lets you measure acreage, line distances, and even count rows within a field. Supports multiple unit conversions including acres, hectares, feet, meters, miles, and more.

Focus Mode

/

Need a clean, distraction-free view? Focus Mode hides all UI overlays except the essentials: your legend, visual tools, compass, and color indicator. This gives you a maximized map for field inspection, presentations, or when you just want to take it all in.

Customizable Border Colors

/

Field borders are now fully customizable. Color them by crop type, by custom tags, or set individual colors, giving you another layer of visual information on your map. Border colors appear in the legend alongside fill colors so you always know what you're looking at.

Mass Move Fields

/

Select multiple fields and drag them to a new location all at once. Ghost outlines show original positions while you reposition, and everything syncs automatically when you drop. Great for reorganizing fields after an import or correcting placement across your operation.

Map Legend

/

Draggable legend showing field and border color mappings

A new floating, draggable legend panel makes it easy to see exactly what your field colors represent at a glance. When coloring fields by crop, tags, or custom groupings, the legend displays all active values with their corresponding colors. Toggle between split and stacked views for field fill and border colors, adjust font size, and reposition it wherever you'd like on the map.

Field Notes UX Redesign

/

The redesigned field notes experience

Field Notes have received a complete UX overhaul with improved layouts, better spacing, and a more intuitive form flow. The redesign focuses on making it faster and easier to capture information in the field, with a cleaner visual hierarchy and a more responsive experience across all devices.

This is the first of a broader redesign coming to all document types across the platform to improve daily use and overall intuitiveness. We'd love your feedback! Let us know what you think at support@farmmind.org.

Soil Testing

[IMPROVED] Upgraded Soil Grid Creation

/

- Adjacent Mode: Preview cells appear next to your existing grid, making it easy to expand your grid one cell at a time in any direction. This is what the original cell adding was: simple and efficient for building contiguous grids.

- Free-Form Mode: Place cells exactly where you want them. A preview cell follows your cursor (or on mobile, press and hold to preview, then release to place). Perfect for irregular field shapes or when you need sampling points in specific spots.
/

Both modes also work through the Data Analyzer's grid creation workflow, so you can build and refine your sampling grids right alongside your analysis tools.

Other Improvements

[IMPROVED] Faster Field Import & Deletion

Importing and deleting fields is now significantly faster. We've optimized the pipeline with streamlined overlap detection, batched database operations, and background processing, so you spend less time waiting and more time farming.

Streamlined Document Workflow

We've removed the document preview panel in preparation for the upcoming edit/view mode update. Document exports now go straight to PDF, cutting out the extra step and simplifying the workflow.

[IMPROVED] Bug Fixes & Usability Improvements

We've squashed various bugs and made usability improvements throughout the platform based on your feedback. Thanks to all the FarmMind users who reported bugs! We appreciate your help in making FarmMind better for everyone.

Coming Soon

- Document Redesign + View/Edit Mode: The same UX improvements from Field Notes are coming to all document types: recommendations, application records, and more. Plus, a new toggle between view and edit mode so you can see the finished document without being in the form editor. Users will also be able to create their own custom document types.

- Drop-Down Templates in Field Notes: Quickly select from your saved templates via a drop-down menu when creating new field notes.

- Action Tags: Want a tag to change automatically when you make a note about a field or perform another action? Action tags will enable these kinds of automations.

- Asset Tracking: Further down the line, track all the information about your assets, both living (cows, chickens, etc.) and non-living (tractors, barns, seed, etc.), just like you currently track info about your fields.
